Support: support@spyphone.com
Data Protection Contact: Data Protection Officer, Spy Phone Labs LLC, Pittsford, NY 14534
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you use our mobile applications and services (the “App”), our website(s), and related features (collectively, the “Services”).
1) Important Notice (Monitoring / Consent)
Our Services are designed for family safety and device monitoring by a parent/guardian or an authorized account holder. You may only use the Services to monitor devices you own or devices for which you have the legal right and explicit consent to monitor. The App is not intended for covert surveillance.
2) Information We Collect
We collect information in three ways: (a) information you provide, (b) information collected automatically from your device/app use, and (c) information you choose to upload from the monitored device.
A. Account & Profile Information
Email address and password (or other credentials you provide)
Account identifiers (such as Firebase UID)
Optional profile details (name, phone number) if you choose to provide them
B. Device Identifiers & Technical Data
Device identifiers used for pairing and syncing (e.g., device ID generated by the device or app, advertising/analytics identifiers where available)
App version, OS version, device model
Network connection type (Wi-Fi/cellular), crash/diagnostic logs (if enabled)
C. Location Data (Including Background Location)
We collect location data to provide core safety features such as real-time maps, geofences, travel history, and safety alerts.
Precise location (GPS coordinates) and approximate location (as available)
Timestamps of location points
Accuracy, speed, heading, altitude (when available)
Geofence events (enter/exit), and related alert metadata
Location data may be collected while the App is in use and, if you enable it, in the background (e.g., to keep geofences working and send safety alerts when the app is closed or not in use).
D. Health Data (Motion & Fitness / Activity Recognition)
Some features require access to Motion & Fitness (sometimes called Activity Recognition on Android). Google Play classifies this as Health Data.
We may collect or derive:
Motion/activity status such as moving vs. idle, and activity signals used to determine whether the device is in motion
These signals are used only to support safety features, such as improving location updates, detecting movement patterns relevant to geofence monitoring, and reducing false alerts or missed events.
We do not use Motion & Fitness / Activity Recognition data for medical purposes, health diagnosis, or advertising.
E. Contacts (If You Choose to Share)
If you grant permission on the monitored device, the App may upload the device’s contact list to your account so you can view family contacts in the parent dashboard.
Contact names and phone numbers (and other contact fields if present and enabled)
You can choose not to grant this permission; features that rely on contacts may not work.
F. Installed Apps / App Usage / Screen Time
Depending on platform and permissions you grant, we may collect:
A list of installed apps on the monitored device
App identifiers (package names/bundle IDs)
App usage and screen time summaries (e.g., total time per app/category) where available and enabled
This supports features such as screen-time reporting, app insights, and parental controls.
G. Alerts & Notifications
To deliver alerts (e.g., panic alerts, geofence alerts), we collect:
Push notification tokens (e.g., Firebase Cloud Messaging token)
Alert events and delivery status (to ensure reliability)
H. Payment Information
Purchases are processed by the platform app stores (Google Play / Apple). We do not store your full payment card details. We may receive purchase status and subscription entitlement information from our billing partners (e.g., RevenueCat) to confirm access.
3) How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
Provide core safety features: location tracking, travel history, geofence alerts, and safety notifications
Provide parental controls and insights, including screen-time and app usage reporting (where enabled)
Enable account login, pairing, and syncing between parent/child devices
Send alerts (panic, geofence, speed, and other safety notifications) to authorized users
Maintain and improve the app (debugging, performance, reliability)
Prevent fraud and abuse, and enforce our terms
4) Background Location & Prominent Disclosure
If you enable background location, the App may access location even when the app is closed or not in use so geofences and safety alerts continue to work.
When required by platform rules, we display a prominent disclosure explaining:
what data is collected (background location),
why it is needed (geofence monitoring and safety alerts),
and how you can control it (device settings and in-app options).
5) How We Share Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share information in the following situations:
A. Service Providers (Processors)
We use third-party service providers to operate the Services, such as:
Cloud hosting, databases, authentication, and messaging (e.g., Firebase services)
Maps display and geocoding (e.g., Google Maps)
Subscription and billing entitlement management (e.g., RevenueCat)
These providers process information on our behalf under contractual restrictions consistent with this Privacy Policy.
B. Legal / Safety
We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect rights, safety, and security of users and the public.
C. Business Transfers
If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
6) Data Retention
We keep data only as long as needed to provide the Services and for legitimate business purposes, such as security and compliance.
Unless you request deletion earlier:
If you cancel service, we delete associated stored data within the same day (or within a reasonable operational timeframe).
If your account is inactive or no data is received from a paired device for 14 days, we may delete stored data associated with that inactive device/account.
7) Deleting Your Data & Account Controls (REWRITE)
You can control, export, and delete data using the options below.
A. Delete your Pro account (and all associated data) (in-app)
From the Pro Parent app:
Go to Settings
Tap Delete Account
Confirm to permanently delete your account and associated data
What gets deleted: account identifiers, paired device records, location history, geofence events/alerts, screen-time/app usage summaries (if collected), uploaded contacts (if enabled), and other data stored for your account in connection with the Services.
B. Remove a child device from your account (in-app)
From the Pro Parent app:
Go to Child Phones / Devices
Tap Delete / Remove next to the child device
What this does: removes the selected device from your account and deletes (or disassociates, as applicable) data stored for that device such as location history, geofence alerts, contacts uploaded from that device (if enabled), and usage/screen-time data (if enabled).
C. If you no longer have the app installed (request deletion by email)
Email support@spyphone.com from the email address associated with your account and request deletion of your account/data.
To help us process quickly, include:
Your account email/username
“Pro” (and “Legacy” if applicable)
The device name(s) you want removed (if you only want to delete specific devices)
D. Legacy Web Version (if applicable)
If you use an older (“Legacy”) web-based dashboard, you may be able to delete your account and/or remove devices and delete specific device data through the legacy control panel. If you need assistance with legacy deletion, contact support@spyphone.com.
E. Revoke permissions (device controls)
You can revoke permissions at any time in your device settings (e.g., Location, Motion & Fitness / Activity Recognition, Contacts, Notifications). If you revoke permissions, related features may not function properly.
8) Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect information. This includes secure transmission (e.g., HTTPS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9) Children’s Privacy
Our Services are intended for use by parents/guardians or authorized adults. If you monitor a child’s device, you represent that you have the legal authority and consent required to do so. We do not permit children to independently create accounts without appropriate authorization.
10) Website Cookies & Advertising (Website Only)
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to operate the site and improve user experience. Some third parties may place cookies for analytics or advertising. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
11) Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will change the “Last Updated” date when updates occur. Material changes may be communicated through the app or website.
